Physiotherapy After Fracture
If you have suffered a broken bone, also known as a fracture, then Physiotherapist can help you regain normal range of motion, strength and functional mobility that is usually hindered after fracture.
After a fracture, Physiotherapy may be ordered to help ensure you return to optimum function as quickly as possible.
If you break your leg or ankle, we instruct you in how to walk with an assistive device, like a cane or crutches. This includes how to use the device to walk up & down stairs or to get into & out of a car. After lower extremity fracture, you have to limit the amount of weight you put on your leg. We can help you understand weight bearing restriction & can teach you how to move about while still maintaining these restrictions.
If you fracture your arm, you may be required to keep your arm in a sling to help with healing. We help teach you how to apply & remove the sling.
For those who are unable to leave the house for therapy, we help you with home based Physiotherapy & help improve your overall endurance & strength of the muscles around the fracture site.
If surgery was required to set your fracture, we assess your surgical scar and help you with healing & faster recovery. After doing detailed evaluation & assessment of areas around fracture site we design specific therapy program to help you recover fully, which includes
- Range of Motion exercises – Strengthening exercises
- Pain relieving modalities – Manual therapy
- Improve flexibility – Reduce swelling
- Improve Gait – Improve overall function & mobility
- Balance & Co-ordination exercises
We use therapeutic modalities like Ultrasound to help relieve pain & swelling, healing of surgical scar tissue. Electrical stimulation maybe used to help improve muscle recruitment. Scar massage & mobilization helps reduce scar adhesions & improve mobility around scar. Shockwave therapy is also used for deep chronic pain. We also use Kinesio tapping which helps support muscles & helps in healing.
We ensure that at our clinic, we provide therapy that helps you return to your optimum functional mobility as quickly as possible.
If your Doctor has not advised you yet, you can tell him you want to do Physiotherapy for best results!
